Business Improvement District (BID) Blackpool
Blackpool Business Improvement District (BID) is a partnership of ninety businesses, organisations and Blackpool Council - working within a defined geographical area to deliver initiatives to improve the Blackpool's trading environment and business. The Grand Theatre is an active member of Blackpool’s BID, which grew from the Town Centre Forum founded in 1994 under manager Nigel Hanson. Grand Theatre licensee Neil Thomson is also a board director of Blackpool Town Centre Business Improvement District Limited. In 2007, the organisation promoted the annual Blackpool Puppet Festival, for which the Grand Theatre presented the work of Krazy Kat Theatre Company and allied workshops.
Blackpool BID memorably brought real reindeer from Lapland to Matcham Court at the Grand Theatre on 14 December 2006 for a fabulously festive street theatre performance, complete with Father Christmas (exclusively engaged by the Grand) and enjoyed by hundreds of festive shoppers and pantomime patrons!
