Hunt for a Grand Shrubbery
WE NEED A GRAND SHRUBBERY!
Eric Idle’s ridiculously funny musical SPAMALOT rides into Blackpool’s Grand Theatre from Monday 18th April starring Phill Jupitus, Jodie Prenger & Todd Carty
And there’s FREE TICKETS up for grabs for the Fylde Coast’s finest shrubbery!
FREE SPAMALOT tickets for the Fylde’s best shrubbery? Leaf it out!
Monty Python’s marvellously mad musical Spamalot invades Blackpool’s Grand Theatre from Monday 18th April to Saturday 23rd April telling the hilarious tale of King Arthur and his search for the Holy Grail.
But the terrifyingly tall Knights Who Say Ni demand a “shwubbery” from Arthur before he is allowed to pass through their forest. Can you aid him in his crazy quest?
Simply send in a picture of yourself/selves with a sophisticated piece of shrubbery - preferably a “nice one, that’s not too expensive” - and you could WIN SIX TICKETS for the opening night of Spamalot on Monday 18th April. And five lucky runners up will win a tin of Spam – let’s not beat about the bush here, these are some great prizes.
So pop down to your local garden centre, scour an upmarket residential area or step into your own back garden and get snapping! (No shrubberies must be harmed of course – the Knights Who Say Ni won’t like it...)
Email your entries to competition@blackpoolgrand.co.uk before 10am on Monday 11th April and they will be displayed in glorious technicolour on the Grand Theatre’s website. We’ll pick the winner later that day (letting the Knights Who Say Ni have the final say of course).
The legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table stars comedian, TV and radio presenter Phill Jupitus (QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Hairspray) as Arthur, King of the Britons; Blackpool’s own Northern Nancy Jodie Prenger (winner of BBC’s I’d Do Anything and star of Oliver!) as The Lady of the Lake and Todd Carty (The Bill, EastEnders’ Mark Fowler, Grange Hill) valiantly banging some coconuts together as Patsy. Spamalot’s co-creator Eric Idle (Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Life of Brian etc) will also star as God via 21st century technology from his LA poolside as a recording - they couldn’t afford to cart this famous comic round the country!
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Eric and his musical mate John du Prez; Spamalot features a bevy (or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burnings (cancelled - health and safety) not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people. This side-splitting show also features the fantastic tunes He Is Not Dead Yet, Knights of the Round Table, Find Your Grail and of course the Nation’s Favourite Comedy Song (Reader’s Digest Poll 2009) Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
Audiences all around the world have been roaring with laughter since Monty Python’s Spamalot won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005. Don’t miss your night with the Knights of The Round Table at the most infectiously funny musical of the millennium.
It’s catchier than the plague!
