DICK WHITTINGTON POSTER DESIGN COMPETITION
YOUNG MASTER ARTIST ISAAC HESKETH OF FLEETWOOD WINS POSTER DESIGN COMPETITION
See some examples submitted below...
THE COMPETITION
The Grand Theatre Blackpool invited children of all ages to enter a chance in a lifetime competition. Children were asked to design a bold and bright poster on A4 paper or card. The theme of the design was the Grand’s pantomime DICK WHITTINGTON. Ideas could include: Dick Whittington and his cat, the journey on the ship to the palace or the Grand Theatre cast on stage… The main idea was to make the poster as bright as they possibly could.
The winner was chosen upon criteria of story interpretation, and how this might be realised in the use of colour, graphics and other imaginative readings of the poster potential.
THE WINNER IS ISAAC HESKETH OF FLEETWOOD
The competition was run in association with UK Productions Ltd, and the assistance of Blackpool district libraries, Blackpool Transport, Grantham’s Printing and Design, Radio Wave and the Blackpool Gazette.
THE PRIZE
The winner is invited to the opening performance of DICK WHITTINGTON at the Grand Theatre as our special guest with five members of their family or friends. The design will be reproduced as a large poster, brought on stage by the cast and presented to the winner, who will be photographed. The winning design will also be placed in a prominent display site in Blackpool town centre, for all their friends and family to see.
Selected top entries will also be displayed in the Grand Theatre foyer during the run of DICK WHITTINGTON.
