As a development of the unique strategic partnership between Blackpool’s Children’s Services Authority and The Grand Theatre, the Au Revoir Review offers a magical opportunity for Year 6 children in Blackpool primary schools to mark the completion of their primary education with a performance on the Grand Theatre stage. Over the three evenings children from across the town will showcase and celebrate their talents and achievements and bid a fond farewell to the schools that have given them their foundations for life.
Like its older brother Schools Alive, each Au Revoir Review will be a dazzling performance for both students and audiences alike!
Show organiser Graeme Dow of Anchorsholme Primary said: “I was one of the lucky ones to be there the day we first met to establish Schools Alive and it was actually myself who suggested the name. I have seen it blossom from a two night production involving ten schools to the mammoth, four day, 30 school production that it is today. And now we see the birth of the Au Revior Review – an amazing opportunity for Year 6 children across the town to perform on the professional stage. Like Schools Alive it starts with a small group of schools, this first year there will be 17 in total, and they are all keen for their pupils to enjoy this unique experience. Unlike Schools Alive, which celebrates the performing arts talents of a few children, the Au Revoir Review offers an exciting chance to young children who have never before set foot on a professional stage.
“And as the name suggests, this is also a time of celebration and farewells. I am sure there will be tears of joy for the fabulous performances and tears of sadness from the parents and children (and the teachers!!!) as the children and parents reflect on seven years of primary education. Schools Alive is now ten years old. I hope that one day we will celebrate ten years of the Au Revoir Review. Huge thanks to the Grand Theatre for making this opportunity available to us.”
