THE STARS

JOHNNIE CASSON
Johnnie Casson is a very funny Yorkshire-man. Blackpool is undoubtedly his second home, his popularity is second to none and his laidback style of delivery and warmth on stage make him an instant hit with audiences. His inoffensive charm and “over the garden fence” humour have made Johnnie the star he is today. He has appeared at the Grand many times before in summer seasons and pantomime, and is one of the few comics to get a word in edgeways with Frank! Theatregoers who have already seen these two guys share a bill know that their comedy blends beautifully.

STEVE ROYLE
This is Steve’s first summer season at the Grand despite having appeared in the last three pantomime seasons at the Theatre. Steve made his name as Mad Edgar at Camelot Theme Park and since then has made many television appearances, theatre tour supports and a serious acting role in ITV’s The Things You Do for Love. He is best known for his zany stage antics and manic comedy routines which entertain young and old alike, evident in both Variety at Night and when he returns this year to star in our 2006 pantomime with Ray Meagher in Dick Whittington.

TONY JO
Tony, our new producer, director and co-star, has written material for many television classics as well as being part of the production team of Question of Sport. He has appeared regularly on the small screen, including Jim Davidson’s Generation Game, Live At Her Majesty’s, three Royal Variety Performances and featured in four series of The Comedians. Tony spends much of his time raising money for charity and is the creator, producer and director of one of the biggest fundraising shows in the North of England, All Hands on Deck which has starred Joe Longthorne, Johnnie Casson, Cannon and Ball, Jeremy Beadle and Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown to name but a few. Last year Tony directed and compèred Theatre at War for the Grand, and directed this year’s inaugural performance for the National Theatre of Variety, A Cavalcade of Variety.
