The 1894 Club
The Grand Theatre, Blackpool makes a permanent and important contribution to the business and social community of Blackpool and the Fylde Coast. This beautiful Grade II listed Victorian theatre, which was designed by renowned architect Frank Matcham in 1894, now offers visitors a packed year-round programme of live theatre from opera, ballet, plays, comedies, musicals, contemporary drama and dance to fun children’s shows and of course pantomime!
But we can’t do it alone.
Sponsorship is fundamental to the Grand to promote the work of creative theatremakers to reach all social strata in Lancashire and beyond. In turn, our sponsors share the fun of live theatre with their clients, guests, employees, families and artistes by accessing a variety of features in the main theatre and the Lawrence House Studio at the Grand. Both theatres offer a unique social ambience to entertain clients, thereby enhancing our sponsors’ public image in the community.
The 1894 Club is the group of sponsors of the Grand Theatre. The Club brings new life into the Grand and we believe that the enjoyment of good theatre is part of our cultural heritage. Our function is not only recreational: as a respected Blackpool institution we present theatre that is also educational and formative. We foster partnerships with several companies, trusts, foundations and educational bodies.
The 1894 Club offers unique promotional opportunities in return for annual contributions: tickets and hospitality are available to companies and we customise sponsorship agreements to suit individual company needs.
In 2007, principal sponsors of the Grand Theatre receive:
- a negotiated number of tickets and programmes
- their name and logo, conspicuously displayed in three editions of our season magazines, circulation 80,000 per issue
- their name and logo on display press advertising for individual productions, in the Blackpool Gazette and elsewhere
- their name and logo on this website, seen by over 400,000 people annually
- their name and logo on all media releases designed for editorial space, distributed locally, regionally and nationally
- their name on tickets for designated shows
- their name and logo, plus editorial and advertisement, in nightly programmes sold at performances and individual productions for which sponsorship is attributed
- their name and logo on corporate displays in the foyers, for individual attractions attributed to their sponsorship
invitations to Grand Theatre 1894 Club receptions, buffets and networking opportunities
For 2007, we invite expressions of interest from new sponsors.
There are many forms of Grand Theatre sponsorship, limited only by imagination! For instance, companies might like to discuss:
- becoming headline sponsor of this Grand Theatre website
- purchasing tickets for employees and distribute them free of charge to staff
- purchasing tickets for complimentary distribution to underprivileged people in Blackpool
- sponsoring the commission and development of a Grand Theatre Academy production, for our youth theatre
- sponsoring the bus hire for school parties to see Grand Theatre attractions
- sponsoring a Grand Theatre education-and-learning project
- sponsoring theatre workshops and other aspects of the Grand Theatre’s award-winning Access programme
- setting aside space on company notice boards and intranet to publicise Grand Theatre productions
There are many opportunities for production sponsorship in 2007 and 2008. Large numbers of people see our shows and many thousands more read about them in the media and our literature. There is a lot of mutual reward in sponsorship, for business and the Grand Theatre!
