125 Years | Timeline
On Tuesday 23 July 2019, Blackpool’s Grand Theatre will celebrate 125 Years.
125 years later, the theatre continues to provide a wide and varied programme of products, both in the main house and in the Studio, appealing to all age groups. We continue to rely heavily on grants, donations and sponsorship so that we can bring to Blackpool the finest companies presenting high quality drama, opera and ballet.
You can now view our history in our very special 125 Timeline below…

Blackpool Grand Theatre has always been in the vanguard of development in theatre: it was the first theatre in Blackpool to be totally electric; it was the first to have a fully cantilevered circle eliminating the need for pillars to give every seat a clear view; and Matcham invented the crash doors that enabled a quick evacuation of the building.
As we celebrate this important milestone, our mission is to secure the theatre for the next generation, starting with a campaign to raise £125,000 to repair the storm damage to the dome at the front of the building. You can DONATE HERE.
