Applications open for BBC Young Dancer 2017 competition

Calling all young dancers, you can apply for BBC Young Dancer!

This is only the second time this talent search has been run and this year it is open to dancers aged 16-21 in four categories – Ballet, Contemporary, South Asian Dance and Street Dance. BBC Young Dancer is a fully inclusive project and positively welcomes applications from deaf and disabled dancers, for whom the upper age limit is 25.

Dancers can apply for the award by downloading the entry brochure from the website. Closing date is Sunday 2 October 2016.

To follow, audience favourite Melt by Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director Sharon Watson sees the elements collide as dancers swoop and glide across the stage in a breathtaking mix of aerial dance. Finally, the quirky and playful Bloom by award-winning choreographer Caroline Finn explores the darkly comic expressions of life and humanity.
