TheatreCloud recruits young journalists to report on the First World War at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool!

TheatreCloud.com (www.theatrecloud.com), the new UK touring theatre website, is launching a search for budding young arts journalists in Blackpool to cover the behind-the-scenes excitement surrounding the forthcoming world premiere stage version of Pat Barker’s acclaimed World War I novel, Regeneration.

Regeneration, adapted by Nicholas Wright and directed by Simon Godwin, premieres on 2 September at the Theatre Royal, Northampton before it goes on tour, finishing up in Blackpool on 29 November at the Grand Theatre. The story is set in 1917 at Craiglockhart War Hospital in Scotland, where poet and soldier Siegfried Sassoon has been institutionalized in an attempt to undermine his public disapproval of the war.

As part of its new “Young Reporters Scheme”, TheatreCloud is recruiting would-be journalists, aged 17 to 30 years old, to report on the production’s run at their local theatre.

In the week of Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 November, when Regeneration hits Blackpool, Young Reporters will be granted special access at the Grand Theatre to carry out a variety of Regeneration media assignments, including: interview features with the cast and related experts, video blogs, audience vox pops, crew diaries and backstage tour reports. All articles will be published, with bylines, on TheatreCloud.com.

TheatreCloud’s Young Reporters Scheme is approved as part of the Arts Council-funded national Arts Award (www.artsaward.org.uk). Participation will prove invaluable for those gaining experience and credits while working towards their bronze, silver or gold level Arts Award.

To apply simply email a sample of your writing and 1-2 story ideas around Regeneration at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool, along with your name, age, address and contact details to reporters@theatrecloud.com. Also ensure you confirm that you are available the week of Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 November.Deadline for applications is Friday 31 October 2014. As this is unpaid work experience, travel expenses are not provided.
