Come And Enjoy The Grand’s New Season!

From hit musicals and a UK exclusive, to classic dramas, our star-studded pantomime and huge comedy icons, as well as an amazing selection of children’s shows, music and dance too – come and enjoy your theatre!

For musical lovers, we’ve got shows for all tastes. Those with a cheeky sense of humour should look no further than the outrageously funny Avenue Q; or for a great night out, New Jersey Nights is packed full of sing-along hits by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons! Be impressed by classic musical Annie Get Your Gun starring Jason Donovan, while Barry Manilow’s Copacabana brings a touch of glamour to The Grand’s Stage!

This season’s drama highlights include the Olivier Award-nominated production of George Orwell’s 1984 and English Touring Theatre’s Twelfth Night. Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap returns to The Grand for three days after a huge success last year, while Touring Consortium Theatre Company bring their incredible new production of Pat Barker’s Booker Prize nominated anti-war novel Regeneration to Blackpool.

The Grand’s Arts Council funded dance programme also continues into the new season with the hip-hop martial arts spectacular The Five and The Prophecy of Prana by Boy Blue Entertainment and a reproduction of prestigious choreographer Wim Vandekeybus’ legendary What The Body Does Not Remember.

Why not treat the little ones to the unforgettable hit monster show The Gruffalo and, of course, the Grand Theatre’s unmissable pantomime Sleeping Beauty! This year’s panto stars Jennifer Ellison alongside BBC Radio Lancashire’s Steve Royle, Radio Wave’s Hayley Kay and dancers from Barbara Jackson’s Theatre Arts.

Steve Royle will also star with fellow comedian Phil Walker in their own stand-up show The L.O.L Tour as well as comedy giants Lee Evans, Ken Dodd and Dawn French, who brings her first-ever stand-up tour to The Grand!

Fans of music will be spoilt for choice when The Osmonds come to Blackpool, as well as a host of the finest tribute artists around, including The Simon and Garfunkel Story and The Johnny Cash Roadshow.

And of course, don’t forget our annual Grand Christmas Concert performed by Poulton-le-Fylde Band. The Grand also hosts a range of community shows throughout the season for all the family, including Au Revoir Review, The Lancashire School Games Festival of Dance, the talented performers in Phil Winston’s The Works and the inspiring young talent who will participate in Skool of Street.

Finally, The Grand has the proud honour of hosting the only UK dates of 2014 for the hit international physical theatre show BLAM!, which was the star of last-year’s  Edinburgh Festival. Die Hard meets The Office in this explosive show that combines jaw-dropping action sequences, slapstick comedy, awe-inspiring stunts and heaps of attitude!

The Grand’s new Chief Executive Ruth Eastwood said,

This season the team has worked harder than ever to bring you a massive choice of arts and entertainment at prices that we believe won’t be beaten.  Go on, take the plunge – treat yourself and your friends to a great night out.”
