Blackpool Grand Theatre is proud to work with local young people.

We co-develop a range of programmes that develop skills in performance, technical theatre and production. At the heart of our work we want to support young people in developing and expressing their own creativity, their individual work as an emerging artist, and as part of a company.

Strengthening young people’s confidence and positive well-being as well as inspiring a life-long love of theatre is central to the work we do at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.

We work with local and national partners to signpost pathways into the creative industries through volunteering, further and higher education.

Our partners include:

Future U, UCLan

Headstart, Blackpool

Aspired Futures

Blackpool Carers Centre

Boing Boing, University of Brighton

Edge Hill University

Blackpool and the Fylde College

Blackpool Sixth Form

The RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company)

Grand Young Company

The Grand Young Company is aimed at 14 to 18-year-olds. The company works with a range of artists to develop their skills including taking part in the National Theatre Connections programme. Guest Directors have included Melanie Whitehead and Jo Cassidy.

Blackpool Schools Shakespeare Festival

Every year children and young people from across our RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) associate schools programme co-produce a School Shakespeare Festival presented on Blackpool Grand Theatre stage.

Over 600 talented local young people get creative with the Bard!

Working with local artists and directors from The RSC and The Grand to build skills in performance, language and voice, 20 schools are involved in the project.
