Overview

37 Plays Writing Workshop & Masterclass, with actor and playwright Jack Holden

37 Plays is a new national playwriting project led by the RSC and our partner theatres. We are seeking the stories of our times: the comedies, the tragedies and the untold histories.

As part of our invitation to anyone in the UK of any age who would like to write a play over the next 12 months, we will be hosting an ‘introduction to writing’ workshop. Jack Holden is an English actor, Olivier-nominated writer and producer from Tonbridge in Kent, who graduated from the Bristol Old Vic theatre school in 2011. Join Jack from 10am-1pm to explore ways of finding inspiration for your play, devising interesting characters and writing engaging dialogue. By the end of the workshop, there will be a sharing of written scenes, read aloud by professional actors.

After the workshop in the afternoon 3pm to 4pm, we will host a Masterclass in which Jack Holden, in conversation with the RSC Deputy Literary Manager, will discuss how he approaches character. We will invite participants from the morning writing workshop to join us as a live audience. This Masterclass will be recorded and available on demand from Monday 20 June via the 37 Plays website.

Join us in writing the stories of our nation.

Over 18 yrs only – 30 places available. Participates to arrive at Stage Door at 10am.
