Shows to make your loved one’s heart strings melt – For the Love of Music!

With Valentine’s Day only days away Blackpool Grand Theatre presents a love-fusion of some of the greatest music and love songs ever written. If you’re looking to surprise and delight this Valentines, Blackpool Grand has you covered.

On the big day itself Blackpool Grand presents Oh What A Night (14 FEB – Valentine’s Day). Valli’s unmistakable voice dominated the airwaves for more than two decades with classics such as Sherry, Let’s Hang On, Big Girls Don’t Cry, and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

Midge Ure comes to Blackpool (16 FEB) with the 1980 tour – celebrating Vienna and Visage, the sound of the future. Brought to life by Midge Ure and Band Electronica, this is the very first time in the 40 years since it was made that the Vienna album will be performed in its entirety. It is also the first time that many of the songs from the debut Visage album will be played live.

You can ‘Believe’ – The Cher Songbook (6 MAR) an exhilarating show sensationally recreating all her hits, the hair, the costumes from her breathtaking career spanning six decades. Experience the ultimate tribute to Cher with dazzling costume changes, outstanding musicianship, a spectacular production and relive the Cher songbook including the hits; I Got You Babe, Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves, Just Like Jesse James, If I Could Turn Back Time, Walking in Memphis, Strong Enough, Believe, songs from Mamma Mia and her new album Dancing Queen.

If you have a little Irish in you… direct from the West End, Seven Drunken Nights (11 MAR) brings to life the music of Ireland’s favorite sons The Dubliners. A performance that will have you singing and clapping along to such classics as The Wild Rover, The Black Velvet Band, The Irish Rover, Molly Malone, Finnegan’s Wake, McAlpines Fusileers, Raglan Road and of course The Seven Drunken Nights.

Spice things up with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers (26 APR) – but be quick this is selling fast! The most Famous Bagpipe Band in the World, ever, they have reached incredible heights with their ground-breaking fusion of traditional Scottish music and rock/pop which they proudly call “Bagrock”.

 

 

Haven’t we all got Lost in Music (22 MAY) with someone we love? Relive some of the greatest songs of all time from Artists such as Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sister Sledge and Chic. This show boasts a sensational live band, incredibly talented cast and stunning vocals and is sure to have you dancing in the aisles! So, come dressed to impress as we celebrate the golden age of Disco! With songs such as Never Can Say Goodbye, On The Radio, Hot Stuff, Car Wash, Boogie Wonderland and many, many more!

Game of Thrones actor (mute executioner Ser llyn Payne) and Legendary Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson Johnson (23 MAY) has enjoyed a rousing return to the live arena, including a No.1 album with Roger Daltrey and a sold-out show at The Royal Albert Hall to mark his 70th birthday. With Blockhead Norman Watt Roy (bass) and Dylan Howe (drums), the Wilko Johnson band personify time served master craftsmen at the top of their game. With special guest John Otway.

Following the Love theme is Steve Steinman’s Anything For Love – The Meat Loaf Story (24 MAY). Famously known for his hit show Vampires Rock, this new show will feature over 25 epic love songs that broke a million hearts and rocked the world!

With incredible stage set, lighting and sound along with a 10-piece live band and a powerhouse of amazing singers along with Steve Steinman’s well-known sense of humour you’re guaranteed to have the night of your life, singing out loud and rocking out to the greatest power ballads and anthems of all time. Including tracks from, Queen, Foreigner, Tina Turner, Cutting Crew, Whitesnake, Heart, Chicago, Poison, Bonnie Tyler, REO Speedwagon, Whitney Houston, Meat Loaf, Eagles and many more!

The Bon Jovi Experience (7 JUN) are the world’s first and finest tribute to the great Bon Jovi and are the world’s ONLY tribute to have been requested by and to have performed live on stage with Jon Bon Jovi himself.

Oh baby! Tim Vine returns to Blackpool Grand with ‘Plastic Elvis’(20 JUN), a unique tribute to a legend. The total sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival hits Blackpool! Feel the electricity as Plastic Elvis takes the stage backed by his incredible five piece The High Noon Band. He’ll shake, he’ll smoulder, he’ll try and control his hair and, in the end, he’ll break your heart. Sing along with some of the King’s greatest songs on a breathless night of rock ‘n’ roll.

With support from special guests John Archer as Big Buddy Holly and song writing legend David Martin. Plastic Elvis will thrill you with an evening of full throttle charisma, unstoppable rock ‘n’ roll and jaw-dropping excitement. Sing along to the hits you love and, if you’re lucky, catch a scarf.

Come and celebrate with us the life and music of one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time, Amy Winehouse in A Tribute to Amy – The Amy Winehouse Celebration (19 JUL). This authentic and respectful tribute is the only show worldwide to be endorsed by both of Amy’s parents, Janis & Mitch Winehouse.

Taking songs from the multi-platinum selling albums Frank, Back To Black and Lioness: Hidden Treasures, world renowned tribute artist, Laura Jane Butler, recreates the distinctive sound and heartfelt performances of the jazz and soul powerhouse.

The Johnny Cash Roadshow (26 JUL) – This year award-winning Clive John pays homage to Cash’s Career as the Man In Black, alongside his iconic Wife June Carter played by Emily Heighway the Roadshow Horns, and on selected shows The ‘Carter Sisters’. With all the hits such as Man in Black, Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue along-side some of the darker more atmospheric songs from the later American Recordings such as The Man Comes Around and Hurt making this year’s show an emotional roller-coaster of songs through Cash’s career, packed together in one fantastic evening’s entertainment.

Celebrating a fantastic 21 years touring in 2020, the UK’s longest running Musical Theatre Concert Tour, Beyond the Barricade (4 OCT), features past principal performers from Les Misérables. The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean) Andy Reiss (Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables) Katie Leeming (Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.

 

 

Not forgetting the ‘GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER!’ Blackpool Grand presents the hit summer Musical Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story (4 to 29 AUG), exploding with heart pounding music, breath-taking emotion and sensationally sexy dancing.
