Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Laughter being the best medicine is about the only thing people can agree on these days and there couldn’t be a better time for a good comedic distraction. We all need a laugh and no one knows how to conjure a real belly laugh like those from Blackpool.

Living in a town that is essentially one big playground, is bound to bring out the silly in everyone. On any given evening in Blackpool, if laughter is the medicine you’re looking for, you won’t have a shortage of places to choose from. There’s no greater way to embrace your inner comedian however, then with a night splitting sides at the Blackpool Grand Theatre.

Blackpool has seen many comedic geniuses who subscribe to the theory that laughter is in fact the best medicine. From local legend Lennie Bennet to honorary northerner Colin Cole and Zoe Ball, who, although is not a comedian, has made us laugh many times as a presenter.

Most recently at the Blackpool Grand Theatre, comedic legend Dave Spikey, celebrated 30 years of his career. ‘Juggling on a Motorbike’, tells Spikey’s life story and how he went from a biomedical scientist, to a comedian. Spikey has featured on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, ‘The Royal Variety Show’ and more.

Here are some upcoming shows from the Blackpool Grand Theatre that will have you gasping for breath. No matter your style of comedy, there is something for everything.

Jason Manford: Muddle Class

The wait is over and Jason Manford is back by popular demand! The power of social media with fans able to interact with their idols has bought Jason Manford back to Blackpool. Years since his last tour, lots has changed in Manford’s life, except for his ability to fill a theatre with laughter. Manford’s new show has Manford looking back on his life and the changes in today’s world and probably taking the mick out of them.

‘Muddle Class’ has received rave reviews from the Evening Standard and the Daily Telegraph. Manford, like Dave Spikey, has featured on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and ‘The Royal Variety Show’, as well as ‘Have I Got News For You’ and ITV’s ‘The Nightly Show’. Jasper Carrott’s Stand Up and Rock

Leave it to a comedian to bring you the unexpected. The only medicine better than laughter, is when you add music to the mix. Jasper Carrott, long standing comedian, is coming to Blackpool Grand Theatre in 2019. His new tour promises the best of comedy gold in his new material and a little something extra on the side. Carrott brings with him his musical entourage, featuring Bev Bevan, Suzi Woo and Geoff Turton. Taking a break from gracing international stages with the sweet sound of rock, they’re touching down in Blackpool to give audiences a night to remember.

Come with an open mind and be prepared for a sore throat at the end of the night from all the cheering and laughing. Carrott and crew come to the Blackpool Grand Theatre on the 1 April 2019.
