A Pantomime Arts Award, Oh Yes It Is! Blackpool’s Grand Theatre worked in partnership with international touring company UK Productions to develop a bespoke Pantomime Arts Award (Explore).

The Grand Theatre’s aim was to select a local school that had not been to the theatre in 5 years, to try through a Pantomime Arts Award to re-engage them.

A class of 30 (Year 5) children from Christ the King School were therefore chosen to participate in this Pantomime Arts Award project.

Having experienced Street and Contemporary dance workshops in school they came along to watch the pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on 14 December 2015. It was at this performance that the children received their very own Panto Logbook with images from Snow White – ‘Oh no they didn’t’!!!

Their journey to the theatre and their reaction to the pantomime was filmed and will be used to document their Arts Award experience.

Early in the New Year we will be filming the pupils back in school creating an artistic response to the show they watched and sharing this creativity with a wider audience. The Panto Arts Award is expected to finish in spring 2016.
