Julius Caesar. A divisive leader who holds awesome power. Concerned that Caesar seems dangerous, revolutionaries take the violent decision to murder him. They have no plan for what comes next. As the world spins out of control, chaos, horror and superstition rush in the fill the void. Civil war erupts and a new leader must rise: but at what cost? Celebrated director Atri Banerjee’s excitingly fresh interpretation of Shakespeare’s timeless story forces us all to consider how far we would go for our political principles and exposes the ambiguity in trying to shift power. King’s Coronation Weekend

The resort of Blackpool has also revealed full details of a spectacular programme of free family entertainment on Sunday 7 May to mark the King’s Coronation weekend. The town will mark the historic event with a majestic Heritage Tram Parade along the seafront, a Big Lunch Outdoor Picnic with free entertainment on the Tower Festival Headland, a live screening of the Coronation Concert from Windsor Castle and ending with a dazzling, specially-themed Light Show.

The Heritage Tram Parade on Sunday 7 May from 2.15 pm will see eleven trams from the restored heritage collection travel in convoy from Pleasure Beach to Little Bispham. The convoy will pause at the Tower Festival Headland to offer onlookers a unique opportunity to capture photos and footage of some of the finest heritage trams in the world. Trams featured in the parade include two 1930s Open Boat trams; two-single deckers; four double-deckers, and the three illuminated trams – the Western Train, trawler and HMS Blackpool frigate. Tickets to ride the heritage trams during the parade are now on sale HERE

The Big Comedy Carpet Coronation Lunch on Sunday 7 May from 3 pm onwards allows people to bring a picnic, relax, and take advantage of an al fresco dining area opposite The Blackpool Tower as part of the national Big Coronation Lunch event. There will be free live entertainment throughout the afternoon, hosted by Blackpool’s very own Hayley Kay, including live vocal performances and fun activities and competitions for children, including a chance to decorate their own version of the Coronation crown and win some great prizes! Crowns are available to collect from the Tourist Information Centre adjacent to the Tower Festival Headland and can be brought along on the day to enter the competition.

Evening Entertainment on the Comedy Carpet from 8pm will offer a free live screening of the Coronation Concert from Windsor Castle streamed to a screen on the Tower Festival Headland with specially lit bespoke illuminations, followed by an interactive Light Show on The Blackpool Tower as a fantastic finale to Blackpool’s day of celebration.
