As part of our fantastic opportunity to see Eternal Love, a Shakespeare’s Globe and English Touring Theatre production, in Blackpool, The Grand also held an exclusive costume talk on Friday 14 March.
The free event was attended by 30 local enthusiasts for theatre fashion, and was co-ordinated between the Grand Theatre, Aunty Social Community Group and English Touring Theatre’s Wardrobe Mistress Mhairi McKechnie.
The talk provided a unique behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into providing costumes for theatre, and discussed how Mhairi and her assistant Ruby get over 18 actors changed into nearly 100 costumes throughout each production of Eternal Love.
From starving monks to kings and courtiers, simple dresses to sumptuous robes, the collection was full of a variety of costumes with some made specifically for the production and others dating back to the 1960s.
For an exclusive look at some the costumes, we’ve put together a collection of clips from the event.
