In this critically acclaimed new stage adaptation of Private Peaceful by theatrical powerhouse Simon Reade, the horrors of conflict are set against the endearing love between the two brothers. Against the epic backdrop of WW1, we join 18-year-old Private Tommo Peaceful in the trenches as he takes us on a journey through his most cherished memories and tells his unforgettable story of courage, devotion, family and friendship.

Renowned author Michael Morpurgo has a true talent for magical storytelling and often uses vivid settings for his characters as they overcome deep adversity – such as natural disasters or the brutality of war. His acclaimed novel Private Peaceful was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, won the Red House Children’s Book Award and the Blue Peter Book Award and is acknowledged by Morpurgo as his favourite work.

The camaraderie of comrades in arms and the emotional human fallout of battle has long been a rich and captivating subject for the stage, with audiences flocking to countless award-winning productions.
