Join the Grand Theatre and a whole host of artists for an unforgettable weekend of dance, rap and graffiti.

The international festival starts on Friday 20 May in a giant tepee in St Johns Square at 4pm. With Hip Hop inspired arts workshops with local artists Dave Healy, Mr Dee and Boz and Karl Hanrahan you can design your graf art name, customise a cap and even decorate your own Vinyl.

There will also be a chance to show off your own moves with a freestyle dance circle and dance battle.

From 5:30pm, why not join in our Rap Cypher with special guests Jonzi D and Jay Madden?

With guest appearances from members of world champion b-boy crew The Ruggeds (Holland) and experimental b-boys Iron Skulls Co (Spain) as well as a whole host of local acts including Urban Dance Project, Wingz Theatre Works – FY Wingz, Ryan Fenton and DJ collective Shaolin Monkeys this is an experience for all ages.

The fun continues on Saturday 21 May from 11:30am with more dance battles, graffiti art and guest spots running in St John’s Square until 3:30pm.

And don’t forget the show … Starting at 7:30pm on Saturday 21 May, Breakin’ Convention is a celebration of urban dance and culture that showcases artists and performers from around the world. Hosted and curated by the legendary hip hop theatre choreographer Jonzi D, it guarantees a night of jaw-dropping dance performances from some of the very best international and UK poppers, lockers, house dancers, b-boys and b-girls.

Breakin’ Convention is generously supported by Arts Council England, BID Blackpool and Blackpool and The Fylde College.
